July 21 Walkout Planned by Activision Blizzard Employees
Another week, another Activision Blizzard employee walkout in the works. Game Developer reports that employees will be staging a walkout on July 21, to protest Activision Blizzard's stance on Roe v. Wade being overturned by the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) and what it is describing as workers continuing to receive internal threats despite Activision Blizzard settling its lawsuit with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission earlier this year.
Employees are seeking "protection of several communities of marginalized workers," for those who live in states where local legislation is targeting women and LGBTQ employees. Some of this is in preparation for the SCOTUS unwinding the right for LGBTQ to get married. Game Developer has more in this important story here.
Let’s move on from this problematic and troublesome news and get into this week’s biggest moves in esports and gaming!
